Betty Eleanor Rose

Betty E. Rose, 90, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, Iowa.

There will be no services.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials may be made to the Rock Island County Animal Shelter. 

Betty Eleanor Gates was born August 20, 1933 in Rock Island, Illinois; the daughter of Walter Gates and Margaret (Brooks) Gates.  She was employed by Sara Lee Bakery last working in 1990. Betty lived in several states during her lifetime, Florida, Colorado, and Illinois.  She married Sidney W. Rose August 11, 1979 in Rock Island.  He passed December 13, 2011.  Betty was a marathon watcher of “Blue Bloods, Chicago Med, and Law & Order”.  She also loved to watch country music shows; especially with Penny Gilley, and Marty Stewart.  Buddy, her dog, came into her life at the best possible time, the last years of her life. Betty was told toward the end of her life, she was “a pistol and feisty”!

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Marsha (Dennis) La Rue, Davenport, Charlene Lord, Pittsburgh, PA, Debra Woolsey, East Moline, and Brenda Emerick (Ronnie Merz) Columbia, MO, stepsons, Bill Rose, Moline, Bruce Rose, East Moline, Jim (Barb) Rose, Milan, stepdaughters, Lisa Rose (Jay Hudson) Winter Haven, Florida, and Charlene (Brian) Dale, East Moline, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Delores.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her stepson, David Rose.
