Alva Penney Jr Obituary
Alva E. "Jr." Penney, 65, of Carbon Cliff, IL, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Trinity Rock Island. Visitation will be Friday, May 14, 2010, 4:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, Ltd., E. Moline. Services will be Saturday, May 15, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. William Coley will officiate. Burial will be at Coal Valley Cemetery, following services.
Alva was born May 18, 1944 in Richmond, VA, to Alva Earl and Ellen (Able) Penney, Sr. He worked at Montgomery Elevator, was an assembler at International Harvester, Farmall Works and also a truck driver for Warren Transport until 1987. He married Linda L. Taylor, October 19, 1968 in Moline. Jr. enjoyed restoring old cars, watching the races, and was a big Jeff Gordon fan. He also enjoyed watching his granddaughter race Junior Dragster.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, daughter, Brenda (Ricky) Lucas, Matoaca, VA, sons, Marc (Theresa) Penney, Moline, Matthew (Shelby) Penney Colona, Jerry (Lorraine) Lucas, Disputanta, VA, sister-in-law, June Anderson, Coal Valley, IL, and grandchildren, Heather Lucas, Breanne and Madeline Penney. He is preceded in death by his parents.
