Alvin F. Anderson

Alvin F. Anderson, 69, formerly of East Moline, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Bettendorf, IA. 

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1501-6^th Avenue, East Moline.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services.  Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island.   Rev. P.W. Harris will officiate.  Memorials may be to The Alzheimer’s Association or Wounded Warriors Organization.   Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline is assisting the family.

Alvin was born December 17, 1949 in Stamford, Connecticut; the son of George F. Anderson and Mary Mark. He was a United Township High School graduate, class of 1967.  He married Maxine Ballard on May 26, 2009, in Rock Island, IL.  Alvin was employed with the Rock Island Arsenal for over 37 year in coolant recycling maintenance, retiring in April, 2017.

In his early years, Alvin was a great football player at UTHS and Iowa Central College.  He was an avid bowler. He was a member of the Rock Island Arsenal Bowling League.  He loved to watch movies repeatedly so he would know movie trivia.  He loved cars, motorcycles, bike riding, and exercising.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Maxine, Davenport; daughters, Aisha Anderson, Khadijah Anderson, both of Bridgeport, Connecticut, sons; Jeremy Anderson, Temple Hills, Maryland, Christopher (Qiana) Ballard, Rock Island, six grandchildren;  one great grandchild, sister; Lucille Paris, Minneapolis, Minnesota, brother; Sinclair (Gwen) Patterson, Aurora, Colorado, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Kenya Anderson, sister; Betty Hubbard.
