James Franklin Duke, Sr., 92, of East Moline, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, 1902-3rd Avenue, East Moline.. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the New Journey AME Church.
James was born July 2, 1926 in Moline, the son of Alvin Duke and Vivian LaVerne. He married Edna Pore in 1990 at The New Hope Baptist Church, Moline.
James worked as a Key Way supervisor at John Deere, Co. retiring after 32 years. James was a U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed going to the fitness center 3 times a week and cutting the grass at the church. Above all, he enjoyed time with his family.
James is survived by his wife, Edna; sons, James F. Duke, Jr., East Moline, Darin (Danielle)Duke, CO; daughter, Deborah (Morris) Palmer, East Moline; stepsons, Edgar Brown, Davenport, Vincent (Rachael) Brown, Davenport; step daughters, Celnea (Arturo), Davenport, Cassandra Brown, East Moline; brothers, Austin Duke, Moline, Truman Duke, Galesburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Alvin, sister, Ruth.
