Lizzie M. (Simmons) Patterson

Lizzie M. Patterson, 91, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, September 17, at Clarissa C Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.

Funeral services will be at 11:00, Monday, September 24, 2018, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1501-6^th Avenue East Moline.  Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 prior to the funeral.    Rev. P. Wonder Harris will be officiate.  Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Lizzie was born June 6, 1927, the daughter of Straughter Simmons and Vinnie Thornton Simmons in Newbern, Alabama.  She married Dolphus Patterson I. 

Lizzie was a homemaker; she loved to cook and clean. She was a strong believer in Jesus Christ.  Lizzie was a fashionista and enjoyed listening to “The Blues”.  Her biggest enjoyment was being with her family. Lizzie always had a heart for others and extended her love to all.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons; Dolphus Patterson II, East Moline, Jerome Patterson I, Rock Island, and David Baker, Davenport, IA; daughters; Annie Jackson, East Moline, Delois (Nelson) Johnson, Moline, Doris Jayne Patterson, and Rose (Lonnie) Reed, McDonough GA; grandchildren, Veronica, Deanitra, Latres, Donna, Jermane Sr., Nelsoandra, Nelson Jay, Nel’neka, Donella, Donald, Donnell, Angela, Dolphus III, Curtis,  Aretha, Kimberly, April, Le’Shay, Shane, Jerome II, Brandon, and Shenae; host of great- grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Drew, Omaha, NE, and Mary Watson, East Moline.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Adeline, Hattie Mae, and Luella; and brothers; Matthew, Sammy, and Eddie.
