Louis Edward Williams, 70, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the home of his son.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1501-6th Ave. East Moline. Visitation will be two hours prior to services, starting at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be immediately following services at Hampton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Louis was born November 27, 1947, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of Willie Williams and Florence Hawkins McCorkle. Louis was employed by John Deere Harvester Seeding Group, Moline, as a fork lift driver. He retired in 2007.
Louis enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball, and football. He was an avid Cardinals and Rams fan. Listening to the “blues” and jazz music and walks thru Sunset Park was a favorite pass time. He loved his family dearly and he enjoyed time with all of them.
Those left to cherish his memory are daughters; LaTayna (Herman) Morris, East Moline, and Hazel Williams, East Moline, son; Louis Williams Jr., Davenport; eight grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Robert Williams, Rock Island; host of nieces and nephews, special friend, Bertha Kelso, best friend Robert Akers, and close nephew, LaMarcus Williams
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Lesley McCorkle, Arthur McCorkle, Willie Lee McCorkle, and John Williams; sister, Rose McCorkle and great grandson, Jayden Brown.
