December 21, 1934 ~ September 4, 2025 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Betty Jackson Obituary

Betty Lou (Taylor) Jackson went home to be with her Lord and Savior during the wee morning hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. 

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd.,  East Moline, Illinois.  Rev. Bill Gluck will officiate.  Visitation will be two hours before services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. 

Betty was born to Allen Taylor and Claudia Patterson on December 21, 1934 in Waterman, Illinois.  She attended the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, Illinois.  She married Milton Jackson on July 8, 1957 in Rock Island, Illinois. He passed March 16, 1995.

Betty was a member of Community Baptist Church, Andalusia, Illinois for over 50 years under the pastorship of Rev. Bill Gluck.  She was also a member of Illinois School for the Deaf Alumni Association, Illinois Association of the Deaf and the Quad Cities Deaf Seniors.  

Betty loved knitting, reading, doing puzzle books, and traveling with family and friends.  Her most precious memories were made being surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She will always be remembered as “Mama, Grandma Jackson” to her children’s many friends and other children who she was a grandmother figure to. 

She is survived by her children, Stevenson (Leasa) Taylor, Fort Wayne, IN, Paul Jackson,  Linda Jackson (Ronald Long), and Hershel Jackson all of Rock Island, Illinois, Claudine Hollingshed,  Columbia, SC,  Jerome Jackson, Rock Island, Illinois, and Cecilia Jackson, Jacksonville, Illinois, 25 grandchildren,  36 great-Grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren,  her sister-in-law,  Evelyn Anderson, special friend, Albertine Holloway, special cousins, Robert Gutierrez, Lora Eaton,  and Peggy Harris, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, daughter, Judy, son Milton, 2 granddaughters, ad 3 great grandson, 3 other great-grandchildren, special brothers/cousins, David Taylor and Wadell Lyles, other special cousins, Shirley Eaton, Mary Jane Middlebrook, Harold White, George White, and Mary Guerrero, long-time companion Oscar Carter, and special friends Bernice Kephart, Melba Spradley, Mary and Ralph Westlund.
