Carol Eileen Mattson was born January 3, 1939 in South International Falls, Minnesota; the first-born child of Otto Einar and Myrtle Eileen (Wickstrom) Mattson. She was a 1957 graduate of Moline High School. Carol was employed by the Rock Island Arsenal as a Supply Systems Analyst for 20 years. She was a long-time member of “Wheel-n-Steppers” Club (square dance club). Albert Kipp (her future husband at the time) had to take square dance classes to date Carol. And as they say, the rest was history. They married March 23, 1991 at the First Christian Church, Moline. Carol had a passion for flower gardening and she was considered the “flower lady of Hampton”. She gave many starts of flowers to friends and relatives (all 13 flower beds). Carol enjoyed playing card games especially “Hand and Foot” and reading murder mysteries. She was very content to stay home and take care of their home. Above all, Carol was very dedicated to all her family and loved them dearly.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 35 years, Albert Kipp, children, Sherry Asplund, Teresa (Richard) Smith, Scott (Victoria) Johansen, step-children, Dianne (Michael) Cole, Douglas (Robin) Kipp, grandchildren, Seth (Amanda) Asplund, Amber (Jason) De La Rosa, step-grandchildren, Ashley Vols, Allison Vols, Jennifer Foley, Allison Leezer, Amanda Cole, Brandon Cole, and Laurin Morgan, great grandchildren, Holden, Alaric, Emory.
