Danny Staton Obituary
Danny “Kemo” Staton, 71, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., 1902-3rd Avenue East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior. Rev. Ben LaGrange will officiate. Memorials may be made for an educational fund for Danny’s grandchildren.
Danny O’Neil Staton was born July 16, 1950 in Clarendon, Arkansas; the son of James Stayton and Elnora Clark. Danny was raised by Rayfield Cunningham and Elnora Clark. He was a graduate of Rock Island High School, Class of 1968, where he participated in Track and Field. Danny attended St. Ambrose University, Davenport, graduating with a degree in business and economics. Danny worked at John Deere Harvester, East Moline, as a crane operator, last working October, 1997. During his time at Deere, he was a civil rights director. Danny married Nancy Wilson, June 17, 2016 in Rock Island. He loved to gamble and attend horse racing at the Quad City Downs. At the Downs, Danny made many great friendships. He loved to cook and grill in very large amounts! Danny loved his time with his children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Staton, his sons, Francisco Staton, East Moline, Anthony Staton, East Moline, grandchildren, Gabriel Staton, Jeremiah Staton, Fransisco Staton, Jr., Cassandra Staton, his siblings, Kenneth (Linda) Cunningham, Davenport, Sakeena Cunningham, Davenport, Vallerie Stayton, St. Louis, MO, Luvenya Stayton, St. Louis, MO, his foster siblings, Victor Harrington, East Moline, Troy Coston, Atlanta, GA. Maggie Coston, East Moline, Marcus Harrington, Marion, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Danny Staton II, sister, Ruthie Stayton, brothers, Alvin Stayton, and James Stayton, Jr.
