DeAnna Marie Stokes

DeAnna M. Stokes, 48, of Racine, Wisconsin, formerly of East Moline, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at her home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Gaines Chapel AME Church, 311-19th Street, East Moline.  Visitation will be one hour prior.  Pastor Tyron Patrick of Faith Church of God, Racine, WI, will officiate.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Moline.  Memorials may be made to Faith Church of God.

DeAnna Marie Stokes was born February 18, 1974 in Davenport, Iowa; the daughter of Evenlyn (Hunter) Stokes and James Stokes. She was a 1992 graduate of United Township High School, East Moline.  DeAnna graduated from Kaplin University as a Medical Assistant.  In her early years, she worked at Valley Shelter.  DeAnna moved to Racine, WI, where she later worked as a Dental Technician and a Medical Assistant at Hands Of Opportunity.  Catherine Swift and DeAnna became friends in 2002.  Together, DeAnna and Catherine, ran a catering business.  She loved to cook. DeAnna was a member of Faith Church of God.  She was recording secretary of the Women Of Faith women’s group and she also worked with the children of the church in various activities. Catherine and DeAnna were working on the adoption of Treasa.

Those left to cherish her memory are her friend of over 20 years, Catherine Swift, a very sweet little girl, Treasa Hardin both of Racine, WI, her mother, Evenlyn Stokes, East Moline, her father, James (Regina) Stokes, Davenport, IA, her brother, Corey Posey, Davenport, IA, her sister, Sierra Stokes, Davenport, IA, goddaughter, Makai Clark, Davenport, IA,  godsister, Breyana Clark, Davenport, IA, godson, Mike Patterson, Louisville, KY, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
