Dolphus Augustus Patterson II

Dolphus A. Patterson II, 81, of East Moline, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be at Hampton Township Cemetery. Rev. P. Wonder Harris will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. 

Dolphus Augustus Patterson II was born January 4, 1944, the first child of Dolphus A. Patterson I and Lizzie Mae (Simmons) Patterson in Colquitt, GA..  He was a 1961 graduate of United Township High School, East Moline. Dolphus worked as a mechanic for Farmall Works, Rock Island, last working in 1984. 

Dolphus’ first love was drag racing.  He was the owner and driver of the “Ghetto Rat” drag car. Dolphus enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.  He will be remembered as a devoted father and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Angela (Anthony) Ward, Dolphus (Melody)Patterson III, Curtiss (Tiffiny) Patterson, Areatha Patterson, Kimberly (Ervin) Patterson,  and April Patterson, his siblings, Lois (Nelson) Johnson, Rose (Lonnie) Reed, Melanie  Patterson,  Jerome Patterson, and David Baker, 30 grandchildren, host of great grandchildren, nieces,  and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolphus and Lizzie Patterson, his beloved wife, Pearl Patterson, his granddaughter, Destiny Wren, his grandson, Robert Wren, his sisters, Doris Janie Patterson and Annie Walton, and his son-in-law, Chris Ward.
