Donald Richard Chapman

Donald R. Chapman, 87, of Moline, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island.   

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2024 at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church, Moline. The visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2024 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Donald Richard Chapman was born March 3, 1937 at Syracuse, New York; the son of Glenn and Hazel (Bertrand) Chapman.  He attended Watertown High School. Don married Margaret Elaine Ingerson on July 4, 1959 in Texas.  She passed December 14, 1994.  He married Marjorie Roussel on February 14, 2006 in Moline, Illinois. Don last worked for Oscar Mayer as a meat processor, retiring in 2000.

Don was a cherished member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church in Moline. He had a passion for discussing world wars, politics, and firearms. Don loved playing games with friends.  He traveled extensively with Marge to visit family and friends in places like New York, Tennessee, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and Hawaii.  He held great affection for his church family (You know who you are), enjoyed singing in the choir, and proudly took on the role of “#1Man”in the production of Gospel According to Scrooge.  Nature brought him joy, as he delighted in watching the birds and deer from his home.  Above all, his love for his family was immense.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Roussel-Chapman, his children, Callie (Rick) Jennings, Davenport, David (Heather) Chapman, OK, Amanda (Matt) Troutwine, Moline, Terri (Gary) Brown, Moline, Tamara (Rusty) Roussel-Emerson, Antioch, TN, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 brothers.

Don is preceded by his parents, his first wife, Margaret Elaine Chapman, his son, Philip A. Chapman, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
