Dorothy Cummings Obituary
Dorothy Mae Cummings, 82, of East Moline, IL, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Trinity Rock Island. Services will be on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline. Rev. P. Wonder Harris will officiate. Burial is in the Hampton Township Cemetery.
Dorothy was born July 16, 1930 in Montgomery, Louisiana, the daughter of Walker Mosley and Viola Sapp. She married Paul Ross Cummings on April 15, 1965 in Rock Island and he preceded her in death on November 5, 2006. She was a teacher for the Florence Aldridge Day Care Center in East Moline.
Dorothy was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing and spending time with her family. She loved to play Scrabble. Dorothy did a lot of volunteer work for various organizations.
She is survived by her daughters, Wanda (John) Malvik, Moline, IL, Carolyn Paul, Almeda, CA, son, Paul Lynn Cummings, East Moline, IL, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a special niece, Myrline ( Rev.Van) Flowers, Davenport, IA and a host of nieces, a nephew, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul, and 2 sisters, Eva Mae Tyson and Ethyel Willis.
Charitable memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, East Moline.
