Fred Winthurst Obituary
Fred T.Tom Winthurst, 81, of East Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Trinity Rock Island. Visitation will be Thursday, January 29, 2015, from 4:00 7:00 p. m. at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline. Services will be Friday, January 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Rev. Joye Perry will officiate. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery following services.
Fred was born February 9, 1933 in East Moline, the son of Fred and Myrtle Hutchison Winthurst. He married Phyllis Rasmusen January 8, 1954 and she preceded him in death. He was a product engineer at Deere Harvester for 34 years, retiring in 1985.
Fred flew remote controlled planes and enjoyed fishing and traveling. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family.
He is survived by his sons, Mark (Laurie) Winthurst, Moline, Todd Winthurst, East Moline, brother, Marty (Sandy) Winthurst, Port Byron, sisters, Mary Gillespie, East Moline, Marsha (Stan) Larson, Moline and sisters-in-law, Shirley Winthurst and Gloria Winthurst, both of East Moline.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Phyllis, twin daughters, Peggy and Susan, brothers, Arthur, Bill and Dick Winthurst.
