George N. Burdick, 83, of East Moline, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis Campus.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, November 30, at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, East Moline. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 1 with visitation 1 hour prior to service, at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Burial will be at Hampton Township Cemetery. Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, East Moline, is assisting the family.
George was born July 16, 1932, in Oakville, Iowa, the son of Charles C. and Essie Wykert Burdick. He married Beulah Louise Pankey on November 17, 1952, at Watertown Baptist Church. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2015.
George worked as a Project Manager at the Rock Island Arsenal. He was a longtime member of Homewood Evangelical Free Church of Moline. George was an enthusiastic supporter and leader in Awana Clubs. He was active in the Boy Scouts. George enjoyed camping, hunting, gardening, and Christmas decorating.
George is survived by his son, Charles (Emily) Burdick, East Moline; daughters, Georgia (Larry) Cullison, Hillsdale, Connie (Charles) Frenell, Barstow; grandsons, Donald Bird, Jr. and Jeremiah Bird, both of East Moline; granddaughters, Amber (Devin) Ramos, Hillsdale, Tori, Hayley, and Whitney Burdick, all of East Moline, Stephanie (Chad) Davis, Moline, Angela (Scott) McGuire, Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Hollie Frenell, Barstow; sisters, Betty (L.J.) Prestage, Hamilton, AL, Mary Peters, Taylor Ridge, IL; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchild; one step-great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother-in-law, Richard Peters.
