Gisela Stogsdill Obituary

Gisela Ann Stogsdill, 86, of Moline passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at MercyOne Genesis Hospital, Silvis, Illinois.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church, Moline, Illinois.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church.

Gisela Ann Nonnenmacher was born May 21, 1939 in Untergruppenbach, Germany to Kurt and Elsa (Schulten) Nonnenmacher.  Her father, Kurt, at that time was fighting in World War II.  He died in Africa.  Her mother eventually remarried to Eugen Christ in 1945 in Heilbronn, Germany.  Her step-father always wished to come to America.  They immigrated to the US in 1951.  They settled in Princeville, Illinois, a small farming community with many German people.  Mr. Christ, being a baker by trade, had the opportunity to buy the town bakery that was for sale.  He kept the business for over fifty years.  None of the family children wanted to continue with the store and it was eventually sold but it was never again as good as when “Oma” (grandma) and “Opa” (grandpa) had it.

Gisela spent her school years in Princeville, Illinois.  Gisela married James L. Stogsdill in 1960, and eventually moved to the Quad Cities where she and her husband raised 3 children.  Her husband worked for International Harvester.  (He passed December 19, 2012.) Gisela went back to her first love, the Medical Field, working in most of the hospitals and finally settling in at Illini Hospital Laboratory in the Histology Dept for over 25 years.  She loved doing all kinds of crafts, but mostly enjoyed time with family.

She leaves behind her three wonderful sons, Richard, of Morris, Illinois, Wayne (Beth) of Creve Coeur, Illinois, and Don (Amy) of Moline, Illinois, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one sister, one brother, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father, Kurt Nonnenmacher,  her mother and  stepfather,  Elsa and Eugen Christ.
