Glodeen "Gloria" Delray (Howard) Estridge

Glodeen “Gloria” Estridge passed December 28, 2022 at her home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2023 at Gaines Chapel AME Church, East Moline. Elder Larry Westbrook will officiate.  Visitation will be 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline.  Memorials can be made to family.

Gloria was born January 7, 1929 in Round Pond, Arkansas; the daughter of Walter and Sadie (Westbrook) Howard. Gloria was a graduate of Forrest City, Arkansas High School, class of 1947.  She was united in Holy Matrimony to Herman McHenry. To this union, three sons were born; Herman (Billy) McHenry, Howard McHenry, and Dwight McHenry; and one daughter, Barbara Ann McHenry-McGowan.  Gloria later married Lee Estridge. 

Gloria was employed at the East Moline State Hospital in East Moline and was dedicated to her position there until her retirement in 1978.  After the passing of her father, Gloria became the caregiver for mother until her passing in 1995.

Gloria was a member of Community Outreach Church of God in Christ, East Moline, and later became a member of El Shaddai Church of God in Christ, Rock Island.  Gloria was a kind, loving woman and firm in what she believed.

Gloria left to cherish her memory: daughter: Barbara (Milo) McGowan, granddaughters: Yakanez (Chris) Carr, LaPresha (Terry) Williams, Benji Tyson, Taelisha Raylon McHenry, grandsons: Alphon Carrell, Sean (Kyea) Fallon, Herman "Sean" McHenry, Brock Jones, John "Jr" Adams, Mario (Tanishia)Yancey, Paris Yancey, Daevejacques "DJ" McHenry, Michael (Destiny) Bostic, Daemion McHenry, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  

She was preceded in death by: her mother and father; husbands, Herman McHenry and Lee Estridge, sons: Herman McHenry Jr (Billy), Howard McHenry, and Dwight McHenry, brother, Walter Herman Howard, grandson, Corey Martin.
