H. Lyman Prettyman

H. Lyman Prettyman, age 85 passed away on January 13, 2025 while vacationing in Tucson AZ.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, Illinois. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd, East Moline, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, or Lakeview Baptist Church, Belton, Texas.

He was born on November 6, 1939 in Mason County IL, the son of Harold Prettyman and Elsie Mae Howe Prettyman. He married Rebecca Clark on February 18, 1961 in Delevan IL at the United Methodist Church. Lyman graduated from Havana High School Havana IL. He attended Western IL University in Macomb IL, as well as University of MO, Columbia MO.

He was a self-employed insurance agent and registered investment advisor for over 45 years starting in Beardstown IL then East Moline IL.

He and Becky lived in Silvis IL and then East Moline IL for 60 years before relocating to Belton TX in 2021. While in IL he belonged to the United Methodist Church in East Moline IL as well as a lifetime member of the Silvis Masonic Lodge 898 AF & AM serving as Worshipful Master in 1990. He was also a member of the East Moline IL Rotary. Upon moving to TX, he belonged to the Lakeview Baptist Church of Belton TX.

Lyman enjoyed spending time with family, RV camping and spending winters for several years in Tucson AZ.

Survivors are his wife Rebecca, children James (Marie) Temple TX, Lynette (Kip) Dopler, East Moline IL and Richard Prettyman Waterloo IA. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 infant granddaughters.
