Harold R. Huizenga, 89, of East Moline, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 in Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2012, 10:00 11:00 a.m., with services following at 11:00 a.m., at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline. Rev. Tracy Irvin will officiate. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
Harold was born November 9, 1922 in Whiteside County, IL, to Jacob J. and Alice (Housenga) Huizenga. He married Mary Sharer and later married Ramona Lee Wing, October 31, 1959 in Ottawa, IL who preceded him in death, December 27, 1993. He was a shop worker at the John Deere Foundry, East Moline for 28 years and at John Deere Parts Depot, Milan, IL, for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and being outside. He loved visiting with friends and family.
He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Sullivan, Linda Huizenga, both of Fulton, IL, Donna Gassman, Norwalk, IA, Ila (Kelly) Taube, Coal Valley, IL, step-daughter, Joan (Ron) Avise, Hamilton, IL, son, John Huizenga, Tomah, WI, stepson, Michael Morse, Elroy, WI, 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, sister, Marian Reynolds, Cordova, IL, brothers, Clifford Huizenga, Morrison, IL, Kenneth Huizenga, Morrison, IL and Arnold Huizenga, Fulton, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John, Don, Rolland Huizenga, sister, Ella Mae Wherry and son, James Roy, in 1945.
Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, or New Hope Baptist Church, Coal Valley.
