Harvey Whipple Obituary
Harvey E. Whipple, 78, of Colona, IL, died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 16, 2014, 4:00 7:00 p.m. at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline, IL, with services on Thursday, April 17, at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Gene Meyers will officiate. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, following services.
Harvey was born October 14, 1935 in Moline, the son of Harry and Lena Griffin Whipple. He was an optician for Buds Optical and Cole National Vision for 25 years, worked in construction, John Deere, Crimmins Transfer and H & M Wrecker Service. He married Mary Goldsberry who preceded him in death. In June 30, 2000 he married Shirley in Cambridge, Illinois and has been married for 14 years.
Harvey enjoyed Nascar, racing, Harley Davidson motorcycles and yardwork. Most of all he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, children, Patty Ekin, David (Mary) Whipple, Ron (Luann) Whipple, Jackie (Tom) Keogh, Jamie (Brandy) Whipple, all of Colona, IL, Terry (Jerry) Kays, Silvis, IL, David (Sally) Whipple, Port Byron, IL, Patty (Lloyd) DeShane, Morrison, IL, 27 grandkids, 35 great grandkids, 2 great great grandkids, brothers, Richard (Nina) Whipple and Ron (Cora) Whipple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lena Whipple, 5 brothers, John (infant), Francis, Leroy, Roger and Harry; and 3 sisters, Minnie Holman, Mary Lou Smith and Carol McDonald.
Family requests casual dress, jeans and tees for visitation and funeral.
