Herbie "Don" Donald Harker

Herbie “Don” Donald Harker, 76, formerly of East Moline, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 in Ankeny, Iowa. 

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline.   Pastor Kris File will officiate.  Visitation is two hours before services. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.

Herbie Donald Harker was born September 5, 1947: the son of Herbert and Syble (Doyle) Harker. Don attended United Township High School.  He married Kathryn Land April 5, 1969 at East Moline Baptist Church.  Don was owner and operator of Donnie’s Sealcoat and Striping, East Moline. He retired in 2023.

Don loved to play baseball from an early age.  He coached his son’s little league team.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Don also enjoyed shooting pool; he was a member of pool leagues. Don spent endless hours playing pool with his son and his friends.  He loved playing guitar (most notably playing with his grandson, Coby), enjoyed karaoke, and sang.  Don was a big collector of Elvis Presley memorabilia.  Most of all, he was an amazing father and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Kathy Harker, Ankeny, Iowa, his son, Dr. Donnie Harker, Ankeny, Iowa, his grandchildren, Coby Harker, Paige Harker, Zuri Harker, and Liana Harker, all of Ankeny, Iowa, his sisters, Gloria Winthurst, East Moline, Penny Harker, East Moline, Patty Roberts, Carbon Cliff, and Robin Johnson, East Moline. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Syble Harker.
