Howard L. Garner, 95, of Silvis, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, Illinois.
There will be no services per his wishes. Cremation rites were accorded.
Howard Louis Garner was born August 13, 1926 in Quincy, Illinois; the eighth child of John and Anna (Schuering) Garner. He was one of eleven children. Howard was educated in Quincy, Illinois. He married Beulah Emma Schroeder December 18, 1944 in East Moline, Illinois. Howard was a
self- employed plasterer, last working in 2000. He was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois for 64 years and the Silvis Lodge No. 898. Howard was an avid hunter and fisherman. Howard and Beulah spent many years of fishing from their cabin at the River of Lakes Resort, Bagley Wisconsin. He enjoyed garage sales and woodworking, Howard enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. He was a hardworking father that always helped with his children’s projects.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Dennis (Jill) Garner, Maquoketa, Iowa, Glenn (Peggy) Garner, Moline, Illinois, Bennie (Lynn) Garner, Sherrard, Illinois, Larry (Allison) Garner, Thompson, Illinois, Jay (Sarah) Garner, Davenport, Iowa, and Cindy (Joel) Miller, Colona, Illinois, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and his sisters, Norma Loos, Quincy, Illinois, and Patsy Jansen, Quincy, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beulah Garner, three brothers, and five sisters.
