James A Malmstrom

James A. Malmstrom, 81, of Port Byron, IL, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018, at Genesis-Illini Medical Center, Silvis, IL.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline, IL. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at the funeral home, Rev. Mark Frazee, officiant.

Jim was born on March 20, 1937, in Moline, IL, the son of Crawford and Madeline Meirhaeghe Malmstrom. He married Helen Friday on July 21, 1962 in Rapids City, IL.

Jim served in the United States Marine Corps. He was an avid Beekeeper and a master Gardner. Jim enjoyed woodworking and carving; he made the furniture in their home. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.

James leaves to cherish his memories to wife, Helen Malmstrom, Port Byron, IL; daughters, Lori (David) Heald, East Moline, IL, Shari (Brian) Soltow, Coal Valley, IL, Darci (Joshua) Shillington, Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Adam (Emilie), Rachel (Adam), Jake, Aaron (Jessie), Lavontae, Robbi, Charlotte, and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Micah, Lydia, Oliver, and baby on the way; 1 brother and 4 sisters.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.

In lieu of flowers and statuaries, memorials may be made to the wife.
