James Morney Obituary

James E. Morney, 76, of East Moline, IL, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Genesis Silvis. Visitation will be Friday, December 26, 2014, 10:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, East Moline, with services following at 12:00 p.m. Rev. P. Wonder Harris is officiating. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery following services. Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary is assisting the family.

Jim was born February 17, 1938 in Albia, Iowa, the son of Edward and Joanna Cooper Morney. He married Carol Thomas on May 7, 1960 in Albia. Jim served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of the Masons and Elks. He retired from John Deere Harvester as an electrician after 30 plus years of service. He loved to shoot pool, fishing and camping. He owned and operated Jims Domino Lounge. Jim loved spending time with his family. Jim was known for his favorite phrase "The point is-I know a trick, can you dig it?"

He is survived by his wife, Carol, sons, James E. Morney Jr., East Moline, Rodney (Charlotte) Morney, Aurora, IL, daughter, Pamela (Earl) Teague, Moline, IL, brother, Bobby Morney, Albia, IA, grandchildren, Stephanie, Tremere, Trianna, Shanisha, Craig, Racquel, Joshua, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, Charles Williamson, East Moline, James Baker, St. Louis, MO, sisters-in-law, Mae Thomas, E. Moline, Kathryn Teague, Moline, Bernice Reed, E. Moline, Pearl Hayes, Detroit, MI, Darlene Thomas, East Moline, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and a sister.
