James D Rhodes

James D. Rhodes, 69, of East Moline, IL, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at his home. Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 4:00 7:00 p.m., at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline, with services on Thursday, Sept. 13, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, East Moline. Rev. P. Wonder Harris will officiate. Burial is in The Rock Island National Cemetery.

James was born April 12, 1943 in Rock Island the son of Leonard and Clara (Byrd) Rhodes. He married Willie Mae Drew, March 19, 1963 in Rock Island. James was a forklift operator for John Deere Harvester for 28years, retiring in 2003. He loved fishing, football, Chicago Bears, baseball, Cardinals and most of all he loved his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae, sons, James Issac Rhodes, East Moline, Leonard W. (Pam) Rhodes, Rock Falls, IL, Donneil Rhodes, TX, Edward Rhodes, Milan, IL, daughters, Clara Marie Rhodes, Columbia, MO, Colette Lynn Rhodes, East Moline, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sister, Clara Harris, East Moline, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert and grandson, Bobby Marsh.
