Janice F. Hall, 76, of Silvis, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at her home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Pastor P.W. Harris will officiate. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
Janice Faye Powell was born June 16, 1948 in Kewanee, Illinois; the daughter of Dan and Octavia (Woods) Powell. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1967. Janice received an associate degree from Black Hawk College. She worked as a machine operator at the Daily Dispatch last working in 2009.
She was a member of Gaines Chapel AME, East Moline, and the East Moline Elks Club. Janice enjoyed working puzzles, traveling, and politics. She was an avid reader. Most of all, her grandchildren were the world to her. Janice shared her love with many neighborhood children, but she held a special mothering relationship with the Spicer siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, De’laina Miller, Desiree (Terrill) Price, Kiarni (Maurice) Hall-Blakemore, her grandchildren, Travante’ Berkley, Michael Patterson, Jr., Alexus Pierson, Tyleic Neely, Aniya Price, and Jada Blakemore’ her siblings, Joe Daniels, Jacque Range, and Dannie Culver, her significant other, S. Edward Yancy, Jr., life time friend, Patricia Roland, and great-grandson Lavant Hood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Carolyn Powell, her brother, Clem Daniels, adopted daughter, Kathy Spicer, and granddaughter, Taryn Pierson.
The family wishes to thank Illinois Cancer Center, UnityPoint Health and Hospice Services, and her homemaker, Sheila Harris. A big thank you to all family and friends who helped in anyway with our mother’s care.
