Joia DeVyne Destinee Brown

Joia DeVyne Destinee Brown, known affectionately as Jojo, passed away on September 11, 2024 at the age of 26.  She was born on July 9, 1998, in Rock Island, Illinois and most resently resided in Champaign, Illinois.  Joia had a passion for skateboarding, which brought her joy and excitement. 

Jojo cherished her family above all else.  She is survived by her devoted mother, Maria Mason of Denver Colorado, her older brothers, Montrell and Marquez Ryan, and Adrian Washington Jr., her sister Maliyah Mason, her beloved niece, Amelia Wasson,  and other siblings and close friends and family who provided unwavering support throughout her life. 

Joia will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and the love she shared with those around her.  Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2024 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Rev. P. Wonder Harris will officiate.
