Juanita E. Cummings, 94, of East Moline, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021 surrounded by family at her home.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 at Gaines Chapel, 311-19th St. East Moline. Visitation will be two hours prior. Pastor Cyrus Burns will officiate. Memorials may be made to Gaines Chapel or Fresenius Kidney Care Silvis. Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline, is assisting the family.
Juanita E. Green was born January 27, 1927 in Ardmore, Oklahoma; the daughter of Monroe and Melissia (Hudson) Green. She married Joseph S. Cummings April 4, 1952 in Rock Island, Illinois. He passed January 20, 2009. Juanita loved her church, Gaines Chapel. She was a choir member, missionary, volunteer, and member of wellness committee. Juanita became deaconess in 2013. She was also a founding member of Watertown Neighborhood Watch. She will be remembered for her fun-loving nature and her enjoyment of life. There were no strangers in her life; every Saturday was a talk session at the grocery store! Juanita was a head-strong, God-fearing women. She instilled her faith in her children.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janice Cummings, East Moline, and Cynthia Bass, East Moline, special daughters, Kathleen Gardner, East Moline, and Drucilla Johnson, Longview, TX , her grandchildren, Ericka Blakely, Rhocelle Taylor, Tiwanna Bass, and Breanna Terry, her great grandchild, Emauriana Hughes, her sister, Beatrice Boardingham, Purcell, OK, her sister-in-law, Willie M. Cummings, and a host of nieces, nephews, and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Cummings, her son James Taylor, her sister, Queen Esther Cook, her brothers, Tannie, Esau, Monroe Jr., Lester, Benjamin, Nureal, and Rev. Beno Green.
