Julia Davis Obituary

Julia M. (Beavers, Jamison) Davis, 91, of East Moline, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022 at ProMedica, Moline, Illinois.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2022 at Gaines Chapel AME, East Moline.  Rev. Cyrus Burns will officiate.  Visitation will be two hours prior to services. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to ARC of Rock Island County or Gaines Chapel AME Church. 

Julia Beavers was born June 29, 1930 in Warren, Arkansas; the fourth child of thirteen children of George Charles and Ida (Chambers) Beavers.  She was a 1947 graduate of Warren High School.  Julia married Julius Jamison, then later married Mack Davis. In her younger years, she worked for Van Camps, Spiegels, and Wrigley Field in Chicago. She later worked as a mental health aide at the East Moline State Hospital, Galesburg Mental Health Center and the Zeller Zone Center, Peoria retiring after 41 years of service.    Julia was a union representative for the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees.  She was a proud Life Member of Gaines Chapel AME Church and the Illinois Conference Women’s Missionary Society. She was past president of the Women’s Missionary Society.  Julia was a member of the executive board of the State of Illinois CWU.  She ran the food pantry thru Churches United of Quad Cities. Julia dedicated her life to her children especially, Andrei, who was born with Down’s Syndrome.  As a single mother, she helped three of her children through college and one of them through Law School. She also made sure that her granddaughter finished her studies at Palmer College of Chiropractic.  Julia was a very giving, loving, proud, generous, dedicated mother of five children. She loved the Lord and her church.  Julia never knew a stranger; she was willing to help anyone that needed help.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon Jamison-Webb, East Moline, Scharla Y. Jamison, East Moline, Anthony “Tonie” (Irene) Jamison, Chicago, IL, and Julius “Jeff”  (Sherri) Jamison, Silvis,  grandchildren, Cantrese (Emanual) Webb-Ashison and Terrell (Diane) Webb, great-grandchildren, Chris, Britney , Ryan, and Grant Webb , great-great grandchildren, Ariana, Ivy,  MacKenzie, Bentley Webb and one on the way, siblings, Irma Henry, Milwaukee, WI,  Fredda (Dorsey) Jones, Henderson NV,  and Dorothy (Otis) Dykes, Henderson, NV,  a host of nieces,  nephews, friends and a special daughter, Sheila Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Andrei Jamison, siblings, Francine Brunson, Jacqueline Ford, Faye Tillman, George Beavers, Jr., Rev. Vernell Beavers, Maude Barker, Donald Beavers, Verna Mae Gee, and Plyma Beavers Green.
