Karen Kay (Christy) Meeker, 79, of East Moline passed away peacefully with her family January 14, 2024 at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, Illinois. Visitation will be 3:00-5:00, Friday, January 19, 2024 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd.., East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Cremation rites will follow.
She was born July 26, 1944 in Ottumwa, Iowa; the daughter of Harry and Naomi (Strictland) Christy. Karen was a 1962 graduate of Louisa Muscatine High School. She was last employed with Louisa County Care Facility.
Karen was a lifelong member of the Wapello Eastern Stars. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and crocheting for the grandkids. Karen loved watching “The Voice” or “The Wheel of Fortune” while being wrapped up in her Minky blanket. Above all things she loved being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Bridget (Don) Muller of East Moline, son Brandon (Jessica) Meeker of New Boston, granddaughter she raised, Ashley Leggett of Milan, grandkids, Amy Leggett of Moline, Corey Meeker of Wapello, Chloe Coulter of New Boston, Austin Meeker of Wapello, Izzie Meeker of New Boston, Hannah Muller of East Moline, great- grandkids, Lily Coulter of East Moline, Ky’ler Reed of Moline, Bella Lenth of Milan, Harley Lenth of Milan, Dayton Lenth III, A ‘Aniyah Dixon of Moline, and her sister, Evelyn Villinger of Burlington Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, nieces and nephews and a great granddaughter, Amelia Dixon.
