Lionel Donald Boisvert

Lionel D. Boisvert, 90, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at UnityPoint Trinity Health, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., 1902-3^rd Avenue East Moline.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services.  Pastor Scott Culley will officiate. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery.   Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Boys Town.

Lionel Donald Boisvert was born January 7, 1931 in Peace Dale, Rhode Island; the son of Andrew and Marie (Roy) Boisvert.  Lionel Joined the US Army at the age of 17 on January 7, 1948.  He married his soul mate, Ruby Hayes on Oct. 19, 1951 in Springfield, Tennessee. She passed August 23, 2020. He served his country for the next 24 years, retiring with the rank of E8 First Sargent.  Lionel was in the Korean War with 187^th Regimental Combat Team where they parachuted behind enemy lines.  He served in Vietnam from 1968-1969.   He retired from the US Army November 1, 1970.  Lionel then went to college where he obtained an associate degree in accounting.  He then worked for John Deere & Co, retiring with 17 years of service in 1990.  Lionel was of the Catholic faith. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Donald (Debra) Boisvert, Winter Haven, Florida, and Allen Boisvert, Moline, his grandchildren, Keith (Marie) Wright, Ryan Dopson, Shawn Boisvert, and Nicholas (Allison) Boisvert, his great-grandchildren, Mikalah, Savanna, Lily, Keith Jr., and Milo.

He was preceded by his parents, his son, Timmy Boisvert, his daughter, Gail Forsythe, his brothers, Paul, Leo, Alfred, and Bobby Boisvert, his sisters, Marianna Gardner, Florida Cook, Irene Pignoct, and Margaret Stringer.
