Macara Rae Dorman (affectionately known as Lady MD), 55, of Silvis, IL departed this life on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis, Silvis, IL. A Home-Going Celebration will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1501 6th Ave, East Moline, IL 61244. Visitation will precede the service starting at 10:00 am.
Macara was born on July 21, 1970, in Silvis, IL, to Kenneth T. Dorman Sr. and Patricia Anne (Rose) Dorman. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she held several offices within the youth department and sang in the choir. Her favorite scripture was “I can do all things through him who strengthens me (Phillipians 4:13, KJV).”
She was a 1988 graduate of United Township High School in East Moline, IL. She received an Associate’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising and Business Administration from Midstate College in Peoria, IL. She also held numerous accreditations in Child Development through Black Hawk College in Moline, IL.
Macara worked at several retailers prior to finding her passion for helping others as a hostess at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, Ltd. (now Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd.), a Residential Counselor for Family Resources, and, most recently, a Childcare Provider alongside her mother at Ms. D’s Daycare. She also served as an election judge for many years.
Macara liked to laugh, have fun with family and friends, and play dominos and cards. She just simply enjoyed life.
Those left to cherish her memories include her mother, Patricia; her brother, Kenneth T. “ChaCha” (Rose) Dorman Jr., and her sister, Tara Burhans; and a host of cherished family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth T. Dorman Sr., her sister, Chana Dorman, and both paternal and maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
