She was the beloved grandmother of Kendra (William ‘BJ’) Jahn, Kelly (Michael) Cohlman, Jason (Laura) Cochran; Ryan (Debbie) Hageman, Sara (Matt DeMuth) Samolitis, Allyson (Andre) Zavala, Natalie Bystrom; Aaron (Kristin) Kopel, Benjamin (Nicole) Kopel; Christina (Seth) Runkle, Sean Zelig Kopel, and Stephen Downey.

Margaret was a cherished aunt and friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents Amna Sweeting and Wilfred Adamson, siblings Gean Stanfield and Leonard Adamson, and her husband of fifty-nine years, Francis Kopel, and firstborn son, Francis ‘Frank’ Kopel II.

Born in Linton, North Dakota, on July 11, 1931 Margaret grew up on Campbell’s Island on the Mississippi River near East Moline, Illinois. She married Francis Kopel on November 23, 1946 and resided in the Quad Cities area of Illinois until 2004 when she moved to Winter Haven, Florida.

Margaret was a beautician and beauty shop owner by trade until she and husband Francis opened the successful Watertown Booze and Bait shop near the Mississippi River. During retirement, she worked in merchandising for twelve years at Walt Disney World and volunteered at the Winter Haven Hospital gift shop.

She loved to travel with her family and friends and especially enjoyed cruises. Margaret lived in Kings Point where she could be found at the pool, attending book club and luncheons, winning a game of Qwirkle, or visiting with friends from the Ladies Red Hat Club.

Margaret will be remembered by all as a faithful Christian, a loving mother and grandmother, and a caring friend. Our hearts will fill with love when we think of her smile and laugh, when we look at her beautiful landscape paintings, and when we close our eyes and hear her reassuring and calming words. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
