Margaret D. (Small) Lage

Margaret D. Lage, 100, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2023 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., 1902-3rd Avenue, East Moline.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services.  Pastor Tanner of Pathway QC Church, Moline will officiate.  Memorials may be made to the family or Pathway QC Church.

Margaret Small was born on September 29, 1923 in Kalona, Iowa; the first child of Verl and Barbara (Burkley) Small.  As a child she attended a one room school house.  Margaret later moved to Rock Island to live with her father and step-mother.  It was there she met and married Merle John Lage on November 8, 1941 in Kahoka MO.  He passed on May 11, 1985.   Margaret enjoyed her roles as being mother and grandmother.  She attended a weekly craft class for many years.  Margaret worked for Service Rubber Co., Rock Island.  She was an active member of the Memorial Christian Church, Moline.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandra (Tom) Kilcoin, Preemption, Illinois, her grandchildren, Kim (Randy)Dean, Viola, Illinois, Adam (Jennifer) Kilcoin, Reynolds, Illinois, and Sarah (Matt) Johnson, Lake Vila, Illinois, her great-grandchildren, Hannah Reschke, Madelynn Gelaude, Cain, Christian, Clare Kilcon, Isabel and Wyatt Johnson, her great-great-grandchildren, Augustine, Margaret, and Helena Reschke. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Verle and Barbara Small, her husband, Merle Lage, and her sister, Willadean Willard.

We would like to express our most sincere thank you for the excellent and compassionate care Margaret received in the years she lived at Friendship Manor.  They not only took great care of her, they loved her.
