Marie Riggs Obituary
Marie L. Riggs, 86, of East Moline, IL, died Friday, August 24, 2012 at East Moline Health and Rehab Center, East Moline. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 28, from 4:00 7:00 p.m. at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline, with services on Wednesday, August 29, at 10:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Pastor Nikki Ross Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery following services.
Marie was born January 12, 1926 in Kanawha, IA, the daughter of George and Hanna (Eenhouse) Eekhoff. She married Donald D. Riggs Dec. 11, 1948 in Jackson, Mississippi and was a homemaker. Marie enjoyed gardening, crocheting, shopping on QVC, cooking and Blackie her cat. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, David (Ruth) Riggs, East Moline, Douglas Riggs, Geneseo, daughters, Cindy (Bill) Buenting, Kirkland, WA, Sara (Jonathan) Reed, East Moline, grandchildren, Mark and Scott Buenting, Katy and Laura Reed, brothers, Jake Eekhoff, Minneapolis, MN, Hemo Eekhoff, Belmond, IA, sisters, Emma Nelson, Belmond, IA and Hanna Mack, Washington. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother.
