Mark W. Lacefield 65, of Rock Island, Il passed away Tuesday, January 20th, 2026, at his home.
Mark was born July 23rd, 1960, in Davenport, Iowa; the son of Ida Jane (Smith) Lacefield and the Reverend Hardin F. Lacefield of East Moline, Il. Mark was a class member of United Township High School 1978, East Moline, IL. Mark was a faithful member of Olivet Baptist Church Rock Island, Il. He played the guitar with several quartets, one being the “Royal Harmoneers”, who are known for their uplifting gospel and spiritual music. Mark had a great love for Jesus Christ as well as a great love for playing the guitar. Mark was known by many as quite the comic. Mark had a big heart and was greatly loved. Mark will be greatly missed by those who are left to cherish his memory. Mark leaves behind six brothers: Hardin(Frank) Lacefield Jr of Cedar Rapids, IA; John (Kim)Lacefield, Dewey(Patty)Lacefield both of Rock Island, IL; Alvin Lacefield, George Lacefield both from Davenport, IA; Paul (Segunda) Lacefield of East Moline, IL; three sisters; Janet Collins of Davenport, IA; Elsa (Ervin) Dixon of Roseville, MI; Georgia Westbrook of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mark was proceeded in death by his parents; the late Reverend Hardin and Ida Lacefield; one brother; Reverend James Hall Jr. Two Uncles, one Aunt, one niece, one nephew, and four cousins.
Services will be Saturday, February 7th, 2026 at 11:00 am at Olivet Baptist Church 1115 -21st Street Rock Island, IL with the eulogy by Pastor Damon Colvin. Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, ltd. is assisting the family. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial will be at Hampton Cemetery, Hampton, IL.
