Mary Alice Ballard, 73, of Port Bryon, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at her home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m, Saturday, September 19, at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., 1902-3rd Avenue East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Rev. P. Wonder Harris and Rev. Edward Ballard will officiate. Burial will follow immediately at Hampton Township Cemetery. Memorial may be made to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Mary Alice Drew was born March 11, 1947 in Union Town, Alabama; the second child of Edward and Marie (Herring) Drew. She married Willie Ballard, November 14, 1964 in East Moline. From this union was born Darla, Juanita, Willie, Edna, Corey, and Johnny. She was a homemaker. Mary was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, East Moline. She served in the kitchen of the church. Mary was known to be a great cook. She loved to garden and can. Mary loved her family dearly and she enjoyed her time with them.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Marie Drew, Omaha, NE, her husband of 56 years, Willie Ballard, Port Byron, her children, Darla Ballard, Rock Island, Juanita Ballard, Dayton, OH, Willie (Beth) Ballard, Jr, Davenport, Edna Ballard, Atlantia, GA, Corey Ballard, Davenport, Johnny (Nicole) Ballard, Atlantia, GA, Ayana Ballard, Port Byron, and Rathina Ballard, Port Byron, thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, her sisters, Leona Arku-Adams, Marietta, GA, WillieMae Rhodes, Carbon Cliff, Cellie Buckmaster, East Moline, Luella Johnson, Jefferson City, MO, Mar yEllen Coronell, Norcross, GA, and Rosella Meadows, Omaha, NE, her brothers, Jesse Drew, Rock Island, and Robert Drew, East Moline, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Drew, and her brothers, Edward Drew, Jr. and Orsbend Lee Drew.
