Melinda Adora (Powers) Carothers

Melinda A. Carothers, 58, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, Illinois. 

Cremations rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held 5:00-8:00, Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the McGehee Center in Schadt Park, Silvis, Illinois.  Memorials may be made her grandson’s college fund.

Melinda Adora Powers was born December 6, 1964 in Geneseo, Illinois; the daughter of Donald and Ruth (Bowerman) Powers.  She was a graduate of J.D. Darnell High School, Geneseo, Illinois, class of 1983.  Even though she lived her life very close to home, she was thrilled to visit her cousin, Heather, in Germany after high school.  Melinda married William Carothers February 24, 1995 in Rock Island, Illinois.  She took care of her mother for years.  Melinda learned home care during this time.   She worked in the Home Health Care field for a number of years.  Melinda was known to have taken great care of her clients.  Melinda had a very big, loving heart! She loved her family and she was a true mother hen.  Melinda lived for her sons and her grandsons. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 28 years, Bill, her sons, Martin Carothers, East Moline, and Scott (Destinee) Carothers, her grandsons, Liam and Jackson Carothers, Silvis, her brothers, Don (Lori) Powers, Jr., Silvis, Mitchell Powers, East Moline, and Andrew Powers, East Moline, her mother-in-law, Wanda Anthony, Milan, host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Andrew.
