Ozie Bass Obituary
Ozie Bass, 87, of East Moline, IL, died Monday, January 2, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island. Visitation will be Saturday, January 7, 2012, 9:30 10:30 a.m., at Gaines Chapel AME Church, East Moline will services following at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Adrian Johnson will officiate. Burial is in Hampton Township Cemetery.
Ozie was born September 1, 1924 in Prentiss, Mississippi. He married Cynthia Cummings in Rock Island on October 15, 1993. Ozie worked in the supply room with the Rock Island Railroad. He was a member of Gaines Chapel AME Church, East Moline and was very involved with the Elks Lodge 1531. He was a past state president. He loved to garden and fish.
Ozie is survived by his wife, Cynthia, daughter, Madalyn Bass, son, Charles Harris, both of Chicago, adopted daughter, Yvonne, East Moline, 10 grandchildren,special granddaughter, Tiwanna Bass, 12 great grandchildren, mother-in-law, Juanita Cummings, E. Moline, sisters-in-law, Josephine Bass, Collins, MS, Janice Cummings, E. Moline, host of nieces and nephews, special friends, Bernard Lacey, Vernon (Jackie) Tabb, and adopted Godson, Seven Pepper.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Minetta Magee, brothers, A.P., C.P., Doc, L.C., Arnell and George.
