Peter McNeal Obituary
Peter McNeal, 90, of East Moline, IL, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2014 from 10:00 a. m. 12:00 p. m. at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline, with services following at 12:00 p.m. Rev. Willie McNeal will officiate. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline.
Peter was born December 6, 1924 in Bolivar, TN, the son of Fred and Minnie (Terry) McNeal. He married Reilga Jones and she preceded him in death September 29. 2010. He was a Master Diesel Mechanic for the Rock Island Lines for 23 years, retiring as Night Supervisor in 1985. He owned and operated Petes Barbeque and later it became Petes Bait and Tackle Shop. He had a knack for business and never met a stranger. Pete always made sure everyone was treated right. He said you were always welcome as long as you behaved and spent money.
He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He was involved with Civil Defense and taking care of fostered children. Peter loved being with his family and playing the piano. He taught all of his children to play the piano.
He is survived by his daughters, Ruth (Courtney) Peeples, Blufton, SC, Dorothy Villarreal, Silvis, IL, son, Columbus McNeal, Battle Creek, MI, Jerry (Cristina) McNeal, Bettendorf, IA, Austin (Olya) McNeal, Russia, Patrick (Nobuko) McNeal, Japan, 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and sister, Addiebell Taylor, Davenport, IA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Reilga, son, Robert, 7 brothers and 1 sister.
