Ralph “Pinky” A. Jones, 86, of East Moline passed away Friday, November 24, 2023 at River Crossing, Moline, Illinois.
There will be no services. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Ralph Alan Jones was born November 9, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa; the son of Walter and Ellen (Mc Dowell) Jones. He was a 1956 graduate of United Township High School. Ralph married Donna Logsdon at St. John’s Catholic Church, Rapids City, Illinois, September 28, 1957. He worked as a Railroad Engineer for The Rock Island Lines for 46 years. It was at the railroad that he gained the nickname “Pinky”. Pinky then worked for Murphy Brothers as a transporter of heavy machinery all over the country.
The railroad life was his hobby. He enjoyed crane work. Pinky also loved boats.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Donna Jones, East Moline, his sons, Daniel (Jody) Jones, East Moline, Larry (Tracy) Jones, East Moline, and Steven (Tammy) Jones, Colona, 4 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his brother, Robert Jones, Davenport, Iowa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Elain Murphy, and his brother, Wally Jones.
