Richard "Dick" H. Mann, 93, of Davenport, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport. There will be a graveside service on Monday, July 1, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at Hampton Township Cemetery, with Rev. Jerry Helms officiating.
Dick was born October 7, 1919 in Rock Island, IL, the son of William and Rae (Ingold) Mann. He married Helen Hutchison in April of 1955. He was a car dealer and was self employed. He was last employed in the 70s.
He owned D & B Motors and Pawn Shop in Silvis, IL. He served 5 years in the Army during WWII. Dick was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and served throughout the Pacific, at Guadalcanal, New Guinea, Caledonia, and was discharged in the Philippines at the end of the war.
He is survived by his 7 grandchildren several great grandchildren, sister, Geraldine Towner, Davenport, Iowa, son-in-law, Gerald Whisenand, South Beloit, IL, and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen "Betty" Mann, 3 daughters, Carrie, Robin and Sylvia, and sisters, Wilma Wolfe and Ethel Smith.
