Shirley Mae (Parr) Laufenberg, 83, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Bickford Cottage, Moline. Visitation will be at 1:00 4:00 p.m., with the Rosary at 3:30 p.m., on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., 1902 Third Avenue, East Moline. Her services will be at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, July 15, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, IL.
Shirley was born January 27, 1930 in Westby, WI, the daughter of Hugh and Olga (Martinson) Parr. She married Donald Laufenberg on October 20, 1948 in Pine Hollow, WI and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1981. She was a longtime resident of Geneseo and had been a longtime member of the Women of the Moose.
She was a homemaker and loved to cook and make Scandinavian pastries. She enjoyed singing at the Polka Mass and also danced at the Moose. She played her slide guitar with her dad. They played at dances. Shirley loved to drive her car and go to Bishop Hill.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Michael (Zobeida) Laufenberg, Brian (Angie) Laufenberg, both of the Quad Cities, 3 grandchildren, sisters, Nancy Bohland, Moline, Marie Pervenanze, Buhl, MN, brother, Hubert (Yvonne) Parr, Westby, WI, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Kristine Marie and brother, Tyrone.
The family especially wants to thank the staff of Bickford Cottage and Hospice Compassus.
