Thomas L. Thompson, 69, of Silvis, IL, died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, IA. Visitation will be Monday, May 21, 2012, 4:00 7:00 p.m., at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline, with services Tuesday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m. Rev.Scott Culley will officiate. Burial is in the Rock Island National Cemetery following services. Military rites will be conducted by the Kewanee Veterans Council.
Thomas was born January 3, 1943, the son of Lornie Orville and Marianna Doris (Homes) Thompson. He worked at John Deere Harvester, East Moline for 30 years in various jobs, retiring on February 1, 1995. Tom was a Navy Veteran and served during the Vietnam War, a volunteer fireman for 10 years in Silvis, a fireman at the Quad City Downs for 2 years, and a trustee at the East Moline Eagles for 3 years. He liked Harley Davidson motorcycles and he belonged to A.B.A.T.E. He enjoyed sports, and was an avid fan of the Bears, the Cubs and Nascar. He enjoyed camping. Tom loved his daughters and grandchildren, and will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his daughters, Michelle (William) Chamberlain, Niagara Falls, NY, Tracy (Rogelio) Flores, East Moline, Christine (Ty) Chuich, Silvis, Cindy Mendoza, Moline, Becky Thompson, East Moline, 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, brother, Jerry (Wanda) Thompson, Kewanee, IL and sister, Barbara Wolf, Hooppole, IL and a
