Timothy Allen Smith

In cherished remembrance of Timothy Allen, Smith, age 54, from East Moline who gracefully left this world on August 31, 2024, after a valiant struggle against his illness.  Born on November 20, 1969, in the vibrant city of St. Louis, Missouri, to the loving parents Eugene and Margie Smith.  Timmy, as he was fondly called, spent his early years in Rock Island, where he proudly graduated from Rocky High School in 1987.  His childhood was filled with the sounds of tinkering tools as he honed his skills in bike repairs, a passion that seamlessly transitioned into car repairs, revealing his innate talent as a mechanic.  It was only fitting that he found his professional home at Sexton Ford, where he devoted over 35 years, showcasing his remarkable abilities.  Timmy’s heart also beat for sports, particularly college and professional basketball, a love that shone brightly as he took on the role of coach for his stepdaughter’s basketball team, embodying the essence of teamwork and commitment.  He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and nephew, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.  He is preceded in death by his beloved parents and brother, Anthony.  Timmy is survived by his siblings, Laurel (Lyndon) from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Patricia Taylor from Houston, Texas, Eugene Smith, Jr. from Illinois, Floyd (Shelly) Smith from Smithville, Texas and Pamela Smith from Austin, Texas, along with an aunt, Harriet (Michael), his cherished step-children, dear friends Kelly, Tim Butler, and David Butler, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.  Even in the face of pain, Timmy’s spirit remained unyielding; he was a beacon of light, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.  His infectious laughter and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

There will be no services.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline are assisting the family.
