Viola Baird Obituary

Viola "Jo" (OBleness) Baird, 94, of Peoria, IL, formerly of East Moline, passed away at Proctor Hospital on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 4:00 a.m. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., 1902 3rd Avenue, East Moline, IL, with the Rev. Tim Najpaver officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline.

She was born September 26, 1918 in Memphis, MO to J. E. and Beulah (Cassingham) Rush. She married Raymond OBleness, Jr. on May 13, 1942. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1971. She later married Richard A. Baird on July 26, 1975. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2006.

Jo was a member of the First Baptist Church of East Moline. She had retired from the East Moline State Hospital as a supply clerk. She also retired from Fannie Mae Candy Company in Moline.

She is survived by one son, Jerry (Jan) OBleness of Peoria and one granddaughter, Jennifer (Sean) Eckhold of Peoria. Also surviving are two sisters, Verlee Ray of Atlanta, GA, Zelma Curry of Newburg, OR and one brother, James (Carol) Rush of Sun City, AZ. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lewis and Stanley Rush.
