William David McDanel, 47, of Moline passed at Trinity Unity Point, Rock Island Saturday, June 6, 2026.
There will be a graveside service at the Rock Island National Cemetery on June 16, 2026. Those wishing to attend must be at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd, 1902-3rd Avenue East Moline by 11:00 a.m.
William David McDanel was born June 26, 1978; the son of David Glenn and Diana (Kowitz) Mc Danel. He was a 1996 graduate of United Township High School. William entered the Army on February 10, 1998. During his 20 plus years in the Army, he acquired over 16 metals including Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Korea Defense Service Medal and numerous badges including Airborne Infantry Badge and ribbons. Willam was very proud of his country and his Army Service.
He enjoyed fishing and arm wrestling. He worked with veterans on “Stand Down” several years. He enjoyed and helped with the Tug Fest in LeClaire, Iowa for a few years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Jeffrey McDanel (Kathy), Camanche, Iowa, his sisters, Amanda McDanel, Moline, and Theresa Haines, Moline, his beloved “Kitty”, and host of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Dennis Lee McDanel.
