Michael J Ellis
Funeral Director / Owner
On Halloween, Mike Ellis was born in Watertown, New York. A small town called Sandy Creek was where he was born in upstate New York. At the age of seven, his family moved to Pulaski, New York. In those days, he met many friends who would remain with him for the rest of his life. He had a friend whose father owned a funeral home in our town. That's when he became intrigued by the funeral industry. After high school, he considered Mortuary College, but the draft called to him, so he joined the Navy instead. Upon leaving the Navy, he was a Chief Petty Officer. As a result of a previous marriage, he moved to Moline in 1978 after getting out of the Navy the first time. He worked at International Harvester as a machine repairman. It wasn't until 1983 that he reentered the Navy. As a result, he won "Recruiter of the Year" in 1985 as a testament to his persuasive skills. Following his discharge from the Navy, he attended Worsham Mortuary College in Chicago in 1991, and the rest is history. As a funeral director, Mike has worked for a number of local funeral homes. It was in 2005 that Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd. was purchased by him. The responsibility of making sure everything is done properly and taking care of the final memories of a family is something Mike enjoys.
